We have been extremely happy with the work both Meghan and her team have done with our children. From the very beginning they were collaborative, pro active and focused on helping our sons. While our sons needs are not atypical, they almost immediately recognized what strategies would help them comprehend and communicate more effectively. They have made tremendous progress in the relatively short period of time we have used them and we are extremely happy with all aspects of their program.

Telehealth

Meghan Murphy and Associates, LLC  is pleased to offer families an online virtual platform to  receive highly specialized speech and language services.  We are currently using the HIPAA-compliant Zoom platform for ongoing therapy.  In addition, we have been able to evaluate and service new referrals during this time.  Our therapists have completed additional training in order to perform valid, online, real-time assessments for a wide variety of children.  Telehealth is a great option for families that want to maintain social distancing while still receiving therapy services for their child during the COVID 19 pandemic.

What are the benefits of telehealth?

  • It’s highly engaging, fun, interactive and individualized to each child in real-time.

  • Masks and distancing are not necessary and so we have the advantage of using and seeing facial expressions, oral motor movements, etc. to maximize interaction and outcomes.

  • Flexibility to deliver services in the home or school environment with the use of almost any device or smartphone.

  • Convenience is a significant advantage for parents and therapists, eliminating travel and increasing flexibility for therapists and slots offered.

  • True and consistent collaboration between therapists and caregivers.

  • Most major insurance plans cover and reimburse for telehealth services for speech and language therapy.

  • In some cases we’ve seen faster progress with shorter, more intense sessions!

I am so impressed with Julie and the progress Emma has been making in her non-verbal understanding and communication skills since we started working with her. This work is helping Emma mature, socialize and communicate so much more appropriately for her age. Julie has been terrific! I am so glad we discovered through the process of getting Emma out of CPS that this type of speech therapy was something she was missing and truly needed. Thanks again for everything and helping so much in Emma’s great progress!

School Treatment and Support

Our therapists provide treatment in many of Chicago’s private schools.  They arrive fully prepared for each session with a plan and tools to elicit the goals established at the evaluation.  They work collaboratively with  the classroom teacher to determine how to best facilitate the goals through a push-in or pull-out approach.

Our therapists are also available to conduct classroom observations and provide either an oral or written report. Additionally we are happy to consult or be an active participant in the Individual Education Plan process.

Looking for a new school for your child? Our therapists are pleased to offer School Placement Consultations.

In-Home Treatment Option

Many of our clients value the convenience of having one of our speech and language therapist provide treatment services in their home.  We offer therapy services seven days a week and will work with you to find a time that works best. We can also develop a home treatment plan for you to continue working with your child in between our visits.
